We are currently working with a client who is looking to secure a Project Engineer with experience in high-voltage substations to lead a team of engineers on a high-voltage substation project.

 

This project is based in Belgium in the Antwerp region. The requirement is for a project engineer to lead a team of engineers on a site-based, brownfield project, with a start date for September.

 

The role would suit a Project Engineer with a background in electrical engineering and high-voltage projects. You would be joining during the early construction phase and taking full responsibility for delivery through to commissioning and handover. The role would not suit a project engineer on the design side, we are looking for a construction and hands-on project engineer to embark on this mission.

 

The ideal candidate would have managed high-voltage project teams for a standalone plant operator, but experience working for a grid operator is also acceptable.

 

Dutch and English-speaking skills are non-negotiable for this role.

 

Project Engineer Specification:

 

 

START: September (interview slots available shortly)

LOCATION: Antwerp, Belgium

DURATION: Until end of 2028 (12-month renewable contract)

 

 

Essential Skills:

Project engineering experience leading an engineering team.

Background in electrical engineering, preferably within high-voltage projects.

Proven experience delivering EPC or large-scale construction projects from inception through to completion.

Strong experience managing multidisciplinary teams including engineering, procurement, and construction.

Ability to manage budgets, schedules, and risk across complex project lifecycles.

Experience engaging with stakeholders at both site and senior management level.

Dutch language skills

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Full project lifecycle ownership, from early construction through to commissioning and handover.

Management of engineering, procurement, and construction contractors and key suppliers.

Oversight of project budget, schedule, and overall performance delivery.

Establishment of project structure, roles, and responsibilities across the delivery team.

Regular reporting to senior stakeholders and executive management.

Identification and mitigation of project risks and coordination of key project interfaces.
