Interim Head of Finance · Hybrid

Job Opportunity! – Interim Head of Finance (Children's, Schools, DSG) – South East England

A local authority client of G2 Recruitment are currently on the lookout for an Interim Head of Finance (Children's, Schools, DSG) to join their team.

Contract Duration: 6 Months +

Rate: DOE

IR35: Inside.

Hybrid: X2 days in office per week for the first month, X1 day per week in office for the second month, X1 day in office per fortnight for the third month onwards.

Days: full time (X5 days per week).

Start Date: ASAP

The Role

  • Lead on Dedicated Schools Grant funding, schools budget regulations and local funding formula work
  • Complete and advise on key DfE returns, including Section 251
  • Support budget setting, budget monitoring, final accounts and financial planning across CYP services
  • Provide robust challenge and financial advice to senior stakeholders, budget holders and Schools Forum
  • Manage and support a small finance team covering school funding and accountancy support
  • Support Children's Services capital budgets where required

 

About You

  • Strong local authority Education Finance experience
  • Robust knowledge of DSG funding, schools budget regulations and maintained school finance
  • Proven experience completing DfE returns, especially Section 251
  • Confident business partner able to challenge services and explain complex information clearly
  • Head od service level experience.
  • Schools capital budget experience would be helpful
  • CCAB/CIMA qualified or part-qualified considered, depending on experience

Our Three Pillars of Training

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.

His role involves teaching the consultants that are new to the company the foundations of recruitment and our systems before then helping them to upskill in areas specific to each consultant.
