Job Opportunity! – Interim Year End Closedown Accountant – North West England
A local authority client in the North West of England are currently on the lookout for an Interim Year End Accountant to join their team on an interim basis.
Contract Duration:6 Months (Likely to extend).
Rate: DOE.
Hybrid: Weekly/fortnightly office presence is required. For candidates situated far away, if they can demonstrate extensive closedown experience for a Unitary/County Council then remote working could be considered.
Days: X5 Days per week.
Start Date: Mid to late March.
Main duties:
- Lead and support on a range of year end closedown activities for the councils 25/26 accounts.
- This could involve debtor, creditor and lease notes, PFI/PPP notes and some I&E notes. Work will include bringing these notes together across multiple systems.
- This will be a purely hands on technical accounting role with no management of staff responsibilities but you will need to engage with the wider team.
- Develop process notes as part of producing the working papers, identify improvements that can be made.
- Manage the external audit process.
- Not essential but collection fund experience would be advantageous.
Successful candidates:
- Must be a fully qualified accountant.
- Must have led or supported on closedown for a Unitary or County Council before. City Council experience could also be considered.
- Must have experience of improving systems and processes in relation to year end.
- Must have experience managing external audit processes.
