Mechanical / Electrical Shift Engineers & Supervisors | Hyperscale Data Centre | Germany
We’re supporting a major hyperscale data‑centre operator delivering mission‑critical infrastructure to meet the rapidly growing demand for cloud and AI services.
This opportunity focuses on maintaining the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of a state‑of‑the‑art mission‑critical environment as part of a 24/7 engineering shift team.
Location: Germany (site‑based)
Contract: Freelance, 12‑month assignment (extensions likely)
Start Date: Immediate
Languages: English required; German advantageous
Eligibility: EU‑based freelancers or those with the right to work in Germany
Project Overview
Scope: Mechanical & electrical maintenance, critical‑systems operations, incident response, and daily engineering oversight within a hyperscale data‑centre.
Environment: Fast‑paced, highly technical mission‑critical facility with multi‑discipline engineering collaboration.
Programme: Long‑term development with continuity and potential for multiple extensions.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain and operate critical MEP systems (UPS, generators, LV/HV distribution, HVAC/cooling, mechanical plant)
• Respond to faults, perform routine & reactive maintenance, and ensure operational uptime
• Lead or support daily shift operations within a 24/7 rota
• Ensure strict compliance with health & safety, quality, and operational procedures
• Collaborate closely with engineering, facilities, and operations teams
• For Supervisors: manage shift teams, oversee incident response, and report performance and risks to senior leadership
Essential Skills / Experience
• Experience working within mission‑critical environments (data centres, industrial plants, power generation, 24/7 facilities)
• Strong technical background in mechanical, electrical, or MEP systems
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and maintain critical infrastructure
• Experience within high‑precision, safety‑driven engineering environments
• Excellent communication and coordination skills
• Fluent in English (German is a plus)
