Location: Hampshire
Rate: £45 per hour
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Contract: 3 months rolling
Are you an experienced Noise & Nuisance Officer looking for your next contract opportunity?
We’re currently working with a local authority in Hampshire who are seeking a skilled professional to join their Environmental Protection team on a hybrid basis, offering a competitive £45 p/h rate and an initial 3-month rolling contract.
The Role
You will play a key role in protecting community wellbeing by investigating and resolving noise complaints and statutory nuisance issues. This is a fast-paced role where you’ll manage your own caseload and work collaboratively with internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Investigate statutory nuisance complaints (domestic, commercial & environmental noise)
- Carry out site visits and noise monitoring
- Serve notices and enforce relevant legislation (Environmental Protection Act 1990)
- Prepare case files for legal proceedings where required
- Liaise with residents, businesses, and partner agencies
- Provide practical advice on noise prevention and resolution
- Maintain accurate case records and reporting
- Participate in out-of-hours work when required
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a Noise, Nuisance, or Environmental Health role
- Strong knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990
- Experience handling statutory nuisance cases
- Experience dealing with Planning applications
- Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to manage caseloads independently
- Strong report writing and organisational ability
- Full UK Driving Licence & access to a vehicle
- Flexibility for evening/weekend work
Desirable
- Environmental Health qualification
- Local authority experience
- Knowledge of wider ASB legislation
- Experience using noise monitoring equipment
