Planner / Scheduler (Primavera P6) · On-Site
g2 Recruitment is working with a leading main contractor that is building a hyperscale/colocation data centre in the Stuttgart region. The scope covers civil, structural, electrical and mechanical works through to commissioning and handover. Our client needs an experienced Planner / Scheduler to own the construction programme and keep it under control through the delivery phase.
Location: Stuttgart, Germany
Contract type: Freelance / Contract
Duration: 12 months
Rate: Negotiable
Key responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and update the integrated Level 1-4 construction programme in Primavera P6, covering civils, structure, building envelope, MEP installation, commissioning and handover.
- Build and logically link the detailed schedules for the critical MV/LV electrical packages (switchgear, transformers, generators, UPS) and the mechanical packages (chillers, CRAH/CRAC units, cooling distribution, fire protection).
- Plan the sequence of commissioning levels (L1-L5) and the hall-by-hall energisation milestones, and line these up with installation completion, the utility connection and the delivery dates of long-lead equipment.
- Run critical path and float analysis, and prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, look-aheads and S-curves for the client and the project team.
- Assess the delay impact of change, prepare time-impact analyses (TIA) and support extension-of-time and claims submissions.
- Review subcontractor programmes for compliance with the master schedule and contractual milestones, and challenge where needed.
- Track earned value, resource loading and productivity together with the cost team.
- Lead planning workshops with construction, package and commissioning managers, both on site and with the design teams.
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience as a Planner / Scheduler on large construction projects, including at least one data centre or comparable mission-critical project (pharma, semiconductor, hospital, energy).
- Advanced hands-on Primavera P6 skills: baselining, WBS/coding structures, resource loading, progress updates and layouts. Asta Powerproject or MS Project is a plus.
- A solid understanding of how MEP installation and commissioning are sequenced on a building with heavy electrical and cooling loads.
- Experience with delay analysis methods (TIA, windows analysis) and with contract programmes under FIDIC, NEC, VOB or similar.
- Strong reporting skills (P6 reporting, Excel, Power BI or similar).
- Fluent English. Working German (B2 or above) is a strong advantage for subcontractor coordination.
- A degree in civil, electrical, mechanical or construction engineering or construction management, or equivalent experience.
- Able to work on site in the Stuttgart area. Valid right to work in Germany / EU.
What’s on offer
- A long-term freelance engagement on a high-profile hyperscale data centre programme, with strong extension prospects.
- A competitive day or hourly rate.
- The chance to own the master programme on a fast-track, technically demanding project.
- A route onto further data centre projects across Germany and Europe through g2 Recruitment.
