Job Title: Process & Mechanical Engineer – Advanced Battery Manufacturing

Location: Eastern Germany (Energy Transition Region)

Employment Type: Freelance Hybrid Working Pattern

About the Role

g2 Recruitment are supporting a major energy storage technology project focused on next-generation battery systems for grid-scale applications. This role will be instrumental in scaling up innovative solid-state technology from pilot to industrial production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and optimize mechanical and process layouts for advanced battery module assembly lines.
  • Design and integrate piping systems, thermal management solutions, and pressure equipment for production processes.
  • Collaborate with R&D and operations teams on material handling, module integration, and quality assurance.
  • Ensure compliance with European standards (PED, CE, DIN, EN) and safety regulations.
  • Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, and troubleshoot mechanical/process issues during ramp-up.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering (or related discipline).
  • Experience in industrial plant design, preferably in battery, chemical, or advanced materials manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with piping codes (EN 13480, ASME B31.3) and pressure equipment directives.
  • Knowledge of thermal systems, material handling, and automation interfaces.
  • German and English proficiency; strong HSE awareness.

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
