Position Title: Project Director – Construction

Location: Groningen, North Netherlands

Salary: €120,000-€150,000 per annum + package

Company Overview:

The client is a leading construction company delivering high-quality commercial, residential, and infrastructure projects across Europe. With a strong reputation for innovation, safety, and timely delivery, we are seeking a strategic and results-driven Project Director to lead major construction projects in the Frankfurt region.

Position Summary:

The Project Director will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety. This is a senior leadership role requiring significant experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership within the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end project delivery of large-scale construction projects (€50M+), from pre-construction through to completion and handover.
  • Manage project teams including project managers, site managers, engineers, and subcontractors.
  • Develop and control project budgets, schedules, and procurement strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, health & safety standards, and quality requirements.
  • Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, authorities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Resolve project issues and risks promptly to avoid delays and cost overruns.
  • Provide strategic direction and support for business development in the Frankfurt region.
  • Report regularly to senior management on project performance, risks, and financials.
  • Willingness to spend about 80 % of your time on project sites within the Frankfurt region, with occasional visits to NL HQ.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10–15 years’ experience in construction project management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership or director-level role.
  • Proven track record in delivering complex commercial or infrastructure projects in Germany or similar markets.
  • In-depth knowledge of German construction laws, building codes, and permitting processes.
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing multi-million-euro budgets.
  • Fluent in English, (written and spoken) – mandatory. German speaking beneficial.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
