Project Manager · Bilbao · Data Centre

Our client, a leading manufacturer of critical power solutions for the data centre market, is looking for a freelance Electrical Project Manager to lead the delivery of modular power skid and pod packages on a major hyperscale data centre campus in Northern Spain.

You will take ownership of the package on site from delivery and installation through to final handover, with a strong focus on electrical commissioning. This is a hands-on, client-facing position suited to someone who understands both the technical detail and the commercial pressure of a live data centre build.

Electrical Project Manager, Data Centre (Freelance)

Location: Bilbao region, Northern Spain (site based)

Contract: 3 months initially, with extensions expected

Start: ASAP

Language: Fluent Spanish essential

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the on-site delivery, installation and handover of prefabricated power skids and pods
  • Oversee all electrical commissioning activity from Level 1 through to Level 5 (factory witness testing, delivery and installation checks, pre-functional testing, functional testing and integrated systems testing)
  • Act as the main point of contact for the end client, general contractor and commissioning agent
  • Coordinate subcontractors, site engineers and commissioning technicians
  • Own the programme, track progress against milestones and report clearly on risks and delays
  • Ensure all works comply with Spanish health and safety regulations and site-specific requirements
  • Manage quality documentation, test records, snag lists and handover packs
  • Control variations, costs and resource levels across the package

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager on data centre projects, ideally hyperscale
  • Strong electrical background (LV/MV switchgear, UPS, busbar, power distribution)
  • Direct experience with power skids, power pods or other modular/prefabricated electrical systems
  • Extensive electrical commissioning knowledge, with experience overseeing Level 1 to Level 5 testing
  • Fluent Spanish, with professional English
  • Solid working knowledge of Spanish HSE regulations
  • Experience using Nidus is a strong advantage
  • Able to start in October 2026 and work on site full time
