Project Manager (HVAC)

We're hiring an experienced Project Manager to join a M&E client I'm working with on a 6-month (minimum) contract, delivering high-spec commercial interior fit-out projects across the UK. This is an Outside IR35 role, starting ASAP, and offers the opportunity to be part of a detail-driven, design-led team trusted by global brands and agencies.

You'll manage full project delivery from planning through to handover, ensuring programme, budget, and quality standards are consistently met-while maintaining clear communication with clients, subcontractors, and site teams.

🛠️ Key Details:

Contract: Full-time freelance (Outside IR35)
Duration: 6 months minimum
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Office-based in Cambridgeshire, with approx. 1 site visit per week, the rest of your time will be based in the office.
Sector: Interior Fit-Out / Commercial Construction

🔧 Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead fit-out project delivery from pre-construction through to completion
  • Coordinate clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and design teams to ensure smooth execution
  • Oversee project timelines, procurement, budgets, and quality benchmarks
  • Conduct weekly site visits to support on-site teams and review progress
  • Hold regular project meetings and maintain accurate reporting
  • Ensure compliance with CDM, HSE regulations, and internal quality standards
  • Resolve technical or operational challenges quickly and professionally

Your Background:

  • Proven experience delivering interior fit-out or refurbishment projects (commercial, retail, or hospitality)
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, M&E, and P&ID in construction environments
  • Experience managing complex mechanical and electrical installations
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with confidence and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Project (or equivalent planning tools)
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Valid UK driving licence and ability to travel weekly for site visits

Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
