Project Manager | Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) | Bavaria / Southern Germany

We’re partnering with a global leader in renewable energy and storage solutions to deliver a large-scale Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project in southern Germany. This facility will enhance grid flexibility and accelerate the country’s clean energy goals.

We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee the full project lifecycle — from planning and procurement through construction, commissioning, and handover.

Location: Bavaria / Southern Germany (exact site to be confirmed)

Contract: 12-month initial term (extension possible)

Start Date: Immediate (subject to permitting and site readiness)

Languages: English required; German preferred but not essential

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead project delivery across all phases — design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final handover.
  • Manage budgets, schedules, risk assessments, and ensure compliance with HSE standards.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, grid operators, and local authorities to keep the project on track.
  • Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and timely reporting.

Essential Skills / Experience

  • Proven experience managing large-scale energy or infrastructure projects (BESS, renewables, or grid-connected projects highly desirable).
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, battery technology, and grid integration requirements.
  • Skilled in contract management, procurement, scheduling, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills; fluent in English (German is a plus).
  • EU passport or valid right to work in Germany required.

Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
