Project Manager – Data Centre

The Role:

For a major data centre project in Frankfurt, we are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead the delivery of a key phase of a large-scale, mission-critical development from construction through to commissioning and handover.

This role is suited to a delivery-focused and hands‑on Project Manager with a strong background in data centre or mission-critical environments. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing programme, cost, and quality while coordinating multiple stakeholders and subcontractors to ensure successful project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading the overall project delivery on-site, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
• Managing day-to-day site activities, coordinating all disciplines including CSA, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning
• Developing and maintaining the project programme, tracking progress and identifying risks or delays
• Acting as the primary point of contact between the client, main contractor, and subcontractors
• Managing and coordinating subcontractors across all packages to ensure alignment with project objectives
• Monitoring project performance, ensuring milestones and key deliverables are achieved
• Ensuring compliance with project specifications, design requirements, and contractual obligations
• Coordinating closely with engineering, commercial, and HSE teams to ensure smooth project execution
• Managing change control processes, including variations, scope changes, and commercial implications
• Leading project meetings, reporting progress to senior stakeholders and clients
• Identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies to maintain programme and cost control
• Supporting commissioning and handover processes to ensure successful project completion
• Maintaining accurate project documentation, reports, and records in line with client requirements

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Project Manager on data centre, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical projects
• Strong understanding of data centre delivery lifecycle (CSA, MEP, commissioning)
• Experience managing large-scale construction projects, preferably in Germany or Europe
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple subcontractors and complex workstreams
• Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, and delivery methodologies
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-value construction environments
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Strong commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets and variations
• Ability to lead teams and drive performance on-site
• Availability for a 12–15 month freelance assignment
