Project Manager · Hybrid

Freelance Project Manager | Bridge Engineering | Infrastructure | Germany

G2 Recruitment is working with a leading engineering consultancy delivering major rail and infrastructure projects across Germany and are looking for an experienced Project Manager in Bridge Engineering to support a growing portfolio of projects.

 

Location: Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Hannover or Dresden (Hybrid)

Duration: Initial 6-month contract with a minimum 6-month extension likely

Start Date: ASAP

Language: German C1/C2 (essential)

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of bridge and structural engineering projects within the rail and infrastructure sector.
  • Manage and coordinate a small multidisciplinary project team.
  • Act a primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered in line with Deutsche Bahn requirements and relevant German regulations.
  • Facilitate effective communication between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Support project governance, reporting, and decision-making throughout the project lifecycle.

Essential:

  • A successfully completed degree in civil engineering / specialization in structural engineering (M.Eng., M.Sc., Dipl.-Ing., Dr.-Ing.)
  • Minimum 7 years' experience in project management within infrastructure, civil engineering, transportation, or bridge engineering projects.
  • Previous experience working on Deutsche Bahn (DB) projects.
  • Proven stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience leading and coordinating project teams.
  • Fluent German language skills (C1/C2).
  • Strong organisational and project delivery capabilities.

Desirable:

  • Background in bridge engineering, structural engineering, or civil infrastructure.
  • Understanding of bridge design and engineering software.
  • Experience working within engineering consultancies or major infrastructure contractors.

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
