Quality Assurance Manager · On-site

A freelance Quality Manager is required to support the delivery of a new high-voltage substation for a major data centre project in Germany. The role offers 50% work-from-home flexibility but requires on-site presence and frequent travel between Frankfurt and Berlin.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage the Project Quality Plan and ITPs.
  • Oversee QA/QC activities across civil, electrical, and commissioning works.
  • Conduct site audits, manage NCRs, and ensure corrective actions are closed out.
  • Review technical documentation, test records, and handover packages.
  • Support FAT/SAT and commissioning inspections for HV/MV equipment.
  • Coordinate with project teams, subcontractors, and client representatives.
  • Prepare concise remote and on-site quality reports.

Requirements:

  • Proven QA/QC or Quality Manager experience on HV/MV substation and HV cables.
  • Strong knowledge of German standards (VDE/DIN) and EU regulations.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and test documentation.
  • Fluent in English; German language skills beneficial.
  • Able to work independently and travel regularly between Frankfurt and Berlin.
  • Eligible to operate as a freelancer in Germany or the EU.

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
