SAP Engineer

A well-established Engineering client is hiring for a SAP Engineer to join his team.

Location: United Kingdom

Rate: ££ Competitive Rate

Part-time & Full time role available.

The client is looking for someone with experience within the following.

Essential Requirements:

  • Hold a valid Senior Authorised Person (SAP) authorisation for switching on 11kV and/or 33kV networks (ideally issued by a UK DNO).
  • Strong working knowledge of DNO safety rules and operational procedures.
  • Demonstrable experience of HV switching and issuing safety documents within a DNO environment.
  • Experience with outage coordination and network operations.
  • Excellent understanding of electrical distribution systems and substations.
  • Valid ECS/CSCS card.
  • Full UK driving license.

Role over view, is to be The Senior Authorised Person (SAP) is responsible for the safe planning, coordination, and execution of high voltage (HV) and low voltage (LV) operations on Distribution Network Operator (DNO) systems. This includes switching, issuing of safety documents, and ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, company policies, and network safety rules.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out HV and LV switching operations in accordance with DNO network safety rules.
  • Issue and cancel safety documents
  • Lead site-based activities
  • Oversee and sign off isolation procedures for maintenance, upgrade, or construction works.
  • Carry out point of work risk assessments
  • Liaise directly with the DNO control centre and third-party contractors
  • Ensure all work complies with current legislation, DNO technical standards, and company procedures.
  • Mentor and supervise Authorised Persons and other team members
  • Complete and maintain accurate records, test sheets, and switching logs.
  • Participate in standby and fault response rota if required.

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
