HSE Specialist – Industrial / Energy Project
Sweden – Multi-Site
18-Month Freelance Contract
Full-Time | Long-Term Project
We are currently supporting a global engineering and energy organisation in Sweden who are looking to appoint an experienced HSE Specialist for an 18-month freelance contract supporting a major industrial programme across multiple sites.
This role will form part of the site HSE team and will play a key role in driving health, safety and environmental performance across the project, supporting operational teams and ensuring compliance with both local regulations and international standards.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone comfortable working on active construction / industrial environments, engaging with site teams, contractors and leadership to strengthen HSE culture and performance.
Responsibilities
- Support and drive a strong HSE culture across the project and wider organisation
- Provide guidance and coaching to site managers, supervisors and operational teams on HSE best practices
- Monitor and track HSE performance, KPIs and reporting, identifying areas for improvement
- Lead or support incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Analyse audit findings, incidents and trends to identify risks and improvement opportunities
- Conduct and support internal and external HSE audits
- Ensure compliance with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 management systems
- Lead and support risk assessments and safe working procedures
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration within HSE and project teams
- Deliver training and awareness sessions on HSE standards, regulations and methodologies
Requirements
- Proven experience in HSE roles within industrial, energy, construction or manufacturing environments
- Strong understanding of HSE regulations, risk management and safety systems
- Experience working with ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 50001 frameworks
- Experience with incident investigation, audits and safety reporting
- Ability to engage and influence teams at multiple levels on site
- Structured, proactive and solution-oriented mindset
- Fluent English required (Swedish beneficial but not essential)
- General knowledge of electrical safety is advantageous

- Multi-site role across Sweden with a base in Västerås
- Competitive day rate available depending on experience
