Freelance Project Developer | BESS Project

We’re partnering with a leading EPC contractor on a crucial battery energy storage project in Poland. This initiative is a key part of the region’s renewable energy strategy, aimed at boosting the nation’s renewable energy sources, as well as accelerating the energy transition. We’re seeking an experienced and ambitious Project Developer to lead delivery, engineering and eventual commissioning at the site.

  • Location: Wroclaw, Germany
  • Duration: 6 months (with potential for extension)
  • Start Date: May 2026

What you’ll do

  • Identify, evaluate, and secure sites for new BESS projects
  • Lead development activities from early‑stage feasibility through permitting
  • Coordinate environmental, grid, and technical assessments
  • Manage relationships with landowners, municipalities, DSOs/TSOs, and external partners
  • Support financial modelling, project structuring, and investment decisions
  • Work closely with engineering, legal, and commercial teams to bring projects to ready‑to‑build status

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in renewable energy development (BESS, PV, wind, or grid‑connected assets)
  • Strong understanding of Polish permitting processes and energy regulations
  • Ability to build trust with local stakeholders and landowners
  • Excellent project management and communication skills
  • Fluent Polish and good English
  • EU Passport

Our Three Pillars of Training

Academy:
Week 1 is a series of remote sessions to learn all things systems, followed by a 1 week academy process which is a mixture of classroom and deskside this will be in one of our UK offices and usually consists of 3-8 other consultants all starting their journey together.

Experienced Modules:
These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
