Role:Structural Engineer - Drilling Rig
Location: Lower Saxony, Germany
Employment Type: 6 Month Contract
We are supporting the development of a new drilling rig project in Lower Saxony and are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer with a strong background in steel structures. This is a key role in the engineering team, responsible for ensuring structural integrity, regulatory compliance, and practical constructability of the rig's core framework.
What You'll Do
As Structural Engineer, you'll be involved in the design, analysis, and execution of heavy steel structures critical to the drilling rig. You'll collaborate with engineers, designers, and on-site teams to deliver a safe and efficient structure that meets German and international standards.
Responsibilities
- Design and analyze steel structures for a new drilling rig using industry-standard tools
- Ensure compliance with Eurocode, DIN, API, and DNV standards
- Review and create technical drawings, calculations, and material specifications
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams during all project phases
- Support fabrication, erection, and inspection of steel components on-site
- Provide technical guidance and solve engineering issues during construction
- Contribute to project documentation and quality assurance processes
What You Bring
- 5+ years of structural engineering experience, preferably in oil & gas or heavy steel fabrication
- Proficient in structural analysis software (e.g., RFEM, STAAD.Pro, or similar)
- Strong understanding of Eurocode, DIN standards, and offshore/marine codes like API or DNV
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Bachelor or Master level)
- Experience working on drilling rigs, offshore platforms, or heavy industrial steel projects is a plus
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Fluent in English (German is a plus)
- EU work authorization or right to work in Germany
