Turnaround Primavera Scheduler
The role supports a planned major turnaround (TAR) at an operational oil & gas facility located near Novara. The TAR involves multi-discipline work scopes across mechanical, E&I, piping, scaffolding, and inspection with execution expected 2027.
Turnaround Scheduler (Oil & Gas)
Contract Type: Freelance / Contractor
Duration: Rolling 12-Month Contract
Location: Novara, Italy (on-site presence required during critical phases)

Language Requirements: English (required), Italian (preferred)
Role Objective
To develop, manage, and optimise a fully integrated turnaround schedule covering preparation, pre-shutdown, execution, and ramp-up. The scheduler will work closely with TAR planners, site management, contractors, and maintenance teams to ensure on-time delivery, schedule risk control, and critical path awareness.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and update a Level 3/4 Primavera P6 schedule for the TAR scope.
- Integrate inputs from discipline planners, engineering, procurement, and contractors.
- Align the schedule with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS).
- Conduct what-if simulations and critical path analyses to inform decision-making.
- Track progress vs baseline; issue weekly/monthly schedule updates and lookaheads.
- Support TAR readiness reviews and assurance gates (30%, 60%, 90%).
- Liaise with cost control, construction leads, and operations for smooth handovers.
- Participate in contractor schedule reviews and ensure alignment of third-party inputs.
- Ensure schedule compliance with corporate planning standards.

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years experience in scheduling for oil & gas turnarounds, shutdowns, or heavy industrial outages.
- Proven track record using Primavera P6 in a turnaround / maintenance environment.
- Solid understanding of TAR phases, work pack structures, permits, logistics, and resourcing.
- Experience working on live sites with major EPC or operating companies.
- Ability to identify and mitigate schedule risks (float, congestion, concurrent activities).
- Competence in schedule reporting (S-curves, histograms, earned value, etc.).
- Strong stakeholder communication skills (site teams, contractors, management).
- Familiarity with Scaffolding, Lifting, Mechanical, E&I work types.

Preferred Qualifications
- Technical diploma or engineering degree (mechanical, industrial, or equivalent).
- Primavera P6 certification or recognised project scheduling qualification.
- Knowledge of Shell, ENI, ExxonMobil or similar TAR methodology is a plus.
- Working knowledge of MS Project, Excel, and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI or Tableau) is beneficial.
