West Midlands DFG Technical Officer - Contract Opportunity

DFG Technical Officer / Adaptations Technical Officer West Midlands - Site Based Competitive Daily Rate – 35p/h Contract Position

We are currently recruiting for an experienced DFG Technical Officer to support a busy Disabled Facilities Grant and Adaptations Service within a well-established local authority in the West Midlands.

This is an excellent opportunity for a technical professional with a strong background in housing adaptations and DFG delivery to manage projects that make a genuine difference to residents' lives.

This role is attracting significant interest due to the highly competitive rate on offer, so applications and enquiries will be reviewed on a first come, first served basis.

 

Key Responsibilities

✅ Produce adaptation designs and specifications using CAD, including:

  • Level Access Showers
  • Access Ramps
  • Door Widening Schemes
  • Complex Major Adaptations

✅ Manage projects from initial survey through to practical completion.

✅ Liaise with Occupational Therapists, residents, contractors, and key stakeholders.

✅ Undertake contract administration, project monitoring, and quality assurance.

✅ Support procurement, tendering exercises, and contractor management activities.

✅ Manage a high-volume caseload whilst maintaining compliance, quality, and customer satisfaction.

✅ Prepare cost estimates and work with Schedules of Rates to ensure value for money.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience delivering Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and housing adaptations.
  • Strong understanding of adaptation design and project delivery.
  • Experience using CAD software.
  • Ability to manage multiple live projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of adaptation costing and Schedules of Rates.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain).

These are a variety of sessions curated by us designed to support consultants as they are progressing through the career ladder, the aim is to ensure consultants at all levels have access to L&D.

Junior Management Programme:
Ran by our head of L&D this programme is designed to support junior managers as they start their management career. This involves things like personal branding, time management and ends in a business plan which is presented to members of the Exec board and senior management team.
